Cross Country Italica International - Seville

Tom Mortimer and the England Team with Seb Coe

Tom Mortimer (coached by Chris Brown) with the sun on his back led the England U20 team to victory and an individual silver medal at the 37th running of the Italica International in Seville. Spaniard Ouassim Oumaiz on his home course set off fast and opened what proved to be a winning lead. Tom, watched by Sebastian Coe the Athletics International President, led the chase finding himself on his own but try as hard as he could Tom could not close the gap and finished second with the English lads packed well behind him for an emphatic team victory! The cross county course is run on a picturesque course which is runs through the ruins of a Roman city called Italica which is famous as the birth place of 2 famous Roman Emperors, Trajan and Hadrian (who built the wall).
