2018 / 2019 Club Race League

After a bit of discussion internally, we have decided to restart the Club Race League for the 2018/2019 season.

We are looking to make it as simple as possible and are looking to select 10-12 local races that our club members can complete in, with points awarded based on position, age category, etc.

VLM 2019 Club Ballot Thurs 8 Nov

We will be holding a ballot for the 2019 Virgin London Marathon next week on Thurs 8 Nov. If you are a fully paid-up club member and have affiliated to England Athletics by paying the £15 affiliation fee and have been rejected from the 2019 VLM ballot you can enter the Club ballot by sending your rejection notice to chairman@stroudathleticclub.co.uk or handing it to Jim Adams before 8 Nov. We receive one free entry for having up to 150 adult members affiliated to England Athletics on 5 Nov.

Half Marathon Refreshments 2018

Barb Chandler reports: "Thank you to all who brought cakes for the Refreshment Stall, some great baking! Also to Sally, Julie, Gillian, Josie, Cilla and Jackie who all worked very hard. We made £601.20 for the Club, with many thanks, Barb". A great result, even better than last year!

New Beginners Group 6 Nov

We have had a fantastic response to our new beginners group starting on 6th Nov and the list is now full! If any club members would like to join a rota to help Ryan, Tim, Adrian and Faye to support the group please let us know.

Water Stations at Stroud Half - Sunday 21st Oct 2018

PLEASE NOTE: there is NO water station this year at mile 11 at the Horse Trough roundabout.

This years Stroud Half Marathon will have 3 water stations at the following location:

Water Station 1: Standish Lane - just past the village hall (approx mile 5)

Water Station 2: Grove Lane - 250 yards after the M5 bridge (approx mile 7)

Water Station 3 : Brunel Way outside StocknLock (approx mile 9)

XC race 1 2018

Saturday 13th October saw the start of the 2018/19 Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country series. As the hosting club, the previous weeks had seen our XC organiser, Geoff Trueman, very busy getting the course, marshals and everything else that is required to lay on a great days racing.
