Annie Testar and Ruby Brook at English Schools Championships

This is the largest annual athletic event in the world and the 4th largest of all athletic event behind the Olympic Games, World championships, and the Commonwealth games. Each of the 45 English Counties sent teams of boys and girls in 3 year age groups, 8/9, 10/1112/13. Counties are split into large, medium, and small. Gloucestershire is a small county and can only take a maximum of 25 athletic across the gender age groups, which covers the 97 events.

Club Sports Day 8 July

Looks like we will have a nice sunny afternoon for our Club Sports Day on Sunday! Please come along with your families and friends, bring a picnic and join in the fun. We have ice creams and refreshments and a water station where you can fill your own water bottles, so please bring them along. Portable gazebos can provide some useful shade so feel free to bring those too! Races start promptly at 1 pm with the adults' Ruscombe Rampage 5k.

Tom Mortimer selected to run for GB in U20 World Championships

Congratulations to Tom Mortimer, who has been selected to run the 5000m at the World U20 Championships at Tampere, in Finland. The championships start on the 10th July and Tom will be running on the afternoon of the 14th July.

This has been a good stadium for Stroud Juniors in the past! In 2009 at the Youth (U18) Olympics, Jennie Batten won 2 gold medals on this track! 

Tom Mortimer excels at Loughborough BMC 5000m

Chris Brown reports - "Tom had a fantastic race at Loughborough yesterday and his time of 13:57:95 was a PB by 19s! His list of achievement are below -

New Club U20 record by 19s.

New Club Senior Men record by 2s (previously held by another Stroud Junior Tom Purnell, who was selected to run in the Olympic trial for the 2012 games). The old record was set in 2014 in California.

Top of the U20 UK ranks by 42s. 

Move to the U20 5000m all-time UK Rankings 1s behind Mo Farah.
