Regional Coach and Athlete Development Sessions

The EA Coach & Athlete Development Team have been planning a series of workshops for coaches & athletes to attend over the winter months. Further details will be found on Athletics Hub, but please see brief details of dates/topics/locations below:

  • Endurance – EA will deliver 2 endurance workshops in 3 locations over the winter of 2019/20. The workshops are targeted at coaches and athletes who want to learn more about Threshold Training & Middle Distance Intervals. Please save the following dates if you are interested - Saturday 2nd November, Bournemouth (both workshops will be delivered), Wednesday 6th November & Wednesday 27thNovember (1 workshop will be delivered on each date in the evening) & Sunday 26th January, Exeter Arena (both workshops will be delivered).
  • Jumps - The workshop format will cover appropriate training components for the time of year, General Preparation, Specific Preparation, Pre-Competitive Preparation and Competitive phase.  Each workshop will have an element of physical prep/ functional movement, conditioning and a technical session. Workshops are scheduled for the following dates – Bath Uni (Sat 19thOctober), Tavistock College (Sun 20th October), Yate Outdoor Sports Complex (Sat 14th March – TBC) & Carn Brea Leisure Centre, Cornwall (Sun 15th March).
  • Speed – Workshops will be delivered in indoor venues across the winter. 2 separate workshops will be delivered across 3 locations & within the workshops they will cover sprint starts, drills, conditioning & warming up for competition. The following dates/locations have been confirmed – Bath Uni (Sundays 13th October & Sunday 19th January), Tavistock College (Sunday 8th December & Sunday 15th March) & Sir David English Sports Centre, Bournemouth (Saturday 9th November & Saturday 15th February).
  • Throws – Details TBC.
  • Road Running Workshops – EA will also be looking to deliver some road running workshops across the SW. We can deliver workshops on Conditioning & Running Drills, Preparation & Recovery, Warming Up (Using the RAMP method), Training Aids – (This could touch on apps, GPS watches, lacrosse balls, resistance bands etc), Recovery Sessions, Innovative / engaging sessions for running clubs & Planning sessions around different seasons of competition.
