Bannister Virtual Mile Time Trial

  • 7 girls from our training groups entered the Banister virtual 1 Mile time trial to celebrate arguably the greatest sporting achievement of all time, the 66th anniversary of Roger Bannister breaking the 4 minute mile on May 6th 1954 at the Oxford University track.
  • The Bannister virtual time trial had some strict rules on the use of Garmin/Stava etc, plus the course could not have more than 2 laps and with very limited decent or you would be disqualified. The event was quickly full but the organizers did allow an additional 350 runners to enter.
  • Finding a flat course close to home was almost impossible for the girls in Stroud, but that did not dampen the girls enthusiasm. Without any competition to prepare and on tick over training, both speed and speed endurance were a bit depleted, but they all can be pleased with their results and overall positions.
