Cotswold Relay Team news

The Race Comittee has sent out the following email regarding entry to the cotswold relaye. If you have any questions or queries please direct them to the race comiittee via email.

The club has entered 4 teams (awaiting confirmation of acceptance) into the Cotswold Way Relay for 2018.  The date for the Cotswold Way Relays has been confirmed as Saturday 30th June 2018.

For people that are unaware of the Cotswold Relay, it is a 103 mile, 10 stage off-road series of relays along the Cotwold Way from Chipping Campden to Bath Abbey.  The club pays the entry fee for the event (and you get a t-shirt!), but YOU are responsible for your own travel arrangements etc.

Car parking at several locations is extremely tight, so lift sharing is highly recommended.

The teams are currently defined as: Senior Men’s (organised by Alan Pitt), Senior Ladies (organised by Jo Fifield), VETs (all over 40’s) and Mixed (min 3 ladies) which will be initially organised by Rich Crampton.  Although we will aim for a VET and Mixed team, it will depend on who would like to run as to the final definition of the team.

Please ensure that you are available on the day before confirming your reservation to be in one of the teams.

Full details are available from the Cotswold Way web site which lists each leg, maps, start time, length, severity etc.

Alan and Jo will attempt to (or will have already) contacted people directly for the Senior Teams but if you feel that you should be included in one of those teams and haven’t been contacted, please reply to this email and I’ll forward the email on or speak to Alan or Jo directly.

Places for the mixed or VET team can be made by responding to this email only – for the avoidance of doubt, the time / date stamp of your response will be used should there be multiple requests for an over-subscribed leg.  If you request places via Facebook for these two teams you will be sadly disappointed.

Places in these two teams will be allocated on a first come – first served basis.  In the event of both team places being allocated for a leg and somebody then requests that specific leg to become King / Queen of the Cotswold Way (i.e. it is their only remaining leg) then it will be up to the initial placements to decide whether to make way and forfeit their place.

If you would like to book a place, in your reply please include:

  • Leg Number
  • T-Shirt Size (S, M, L, XL)
  • Mobile Phone number
  • Date of birth and age on race day

(Please be aware that the requested t-shirt size and what we end up with don’t always match but it will be on best endeavours).

You cannot book places for somebody else and you must be a valid paid up member of Stroud AC by 1st May 2018.  You have to be minimum of 18 years old.

If you have already been approached for the Senior Mens or Ladies team, please provide the information required above to Jo and Alan for them to collate.  Without this information, it makes the team declarations much more difficult.
