126 runners, walkers and joggers gathered at Oldends Lane Playing Fields on Saturday morning for a parkrun takeover. This was a friendly takeover – local running club Stroud and District AC provided all the volunteers, pacers and plenty of runners to join the regular parkrunners.

Ian Cutler who organised the event told us “after last weekend’s atrocious weather, we were pleased to see this weekend turned out to be a sunny Saturday.
Stroud & District Athletics Club had had agreed to takeover Stonehouse parkrun this week and they definitely didn’t let us down. We had 23 volunteers including 5 pacers. With 126 finishers this was our 4th highest attendance, but our best ever volunteer performance – so we would like to thank Stroud AC for helping to make this a great success.”
After a briefing from Run Director Alan Price, everyone was ready to start at 9am.
First finisher Rupert Denny set a new personal best, closely followed by one of the Junior Stroud athletes, Lexie Bull.
It was quite the day for personal bests – 53 runners, joggers and walkers achieved a personal best on the course.
After all the running and cheering, everyone was glad of the supply of coffee and cake from local runner Alastair Campbell’s bike cafe The Domestique.
Ian Cutler added “after such a successful event we’ll be looking at other takeovers. And of course parkrun is here every Saturday morning for anyone who wants to join our fun 5km walk, jog or run round Oldends Lane Playing Fields.”
