I was very sorry to learn that Tony Christmas, a member and great supporter of our Club for 40 years, has passed away.
Tony officially retired from racing in 2010 after completing his “final” Stroud Half Marathon at the age of 80 but has been a familiar figure at many of our events and races over the years, supporting his son, Lee.
Tony always had a smile and a kind word whenever he saw Club members out and about and was a well-loved figure on the streets of Stroud.
Despite having had a stroke and being diagnosed with prostate cancer, Tony came out of running retirement in 2015 to complete Stroud Half once more in 3 hours 6 mins and received fantastic support all round the course.
Tony will be sadly missed and our sincere condolences go to Lee and all the family.
