Tri and Duathlons

Stroud and District Athletics Club has its own dedicated triathlon section. This is run by a subcommittee who can be contacted by using this form. SADAC Tri Team is affiliated to the British Triathlon Federation giving members access to discounted insurance and membership. (Please make sure you select SADAC Tri Team on the drop down menu for race entries etc.)

 

The structure of the Tri Team provides a platform for triathletes to train and compete at every level from beginner to international level. Triathlon coaching is currently given in our swimming sessions and some cycling sessions. Further support and advice is always at hand through our closed Facebook group.

 

In order to join the Tri team a £10 surcharge is applied to the normal SADAC membership fee and this option can be accessed via the online membership system. Once membership has been confirmed this allows access to the Facebook group and to the training events we run and club races. Please contact us using the link above if you would like to come along and meet us or try a session before joining up.

Swimming

Swim sessions currently take place on a Monday evening 7.30 – 8.30 pm at Archway School. These sessions will help improve technique as well as building fitness across a range of distances. These sessions are for adults only. Everyone is welcome but you do need to be able to swim 4 lengths (80m) non-stop. 

Please book via the RunTogether app. Currently the cost is £4.50 per session with a 20% discount if you book 5 or more sessions. (To get the discount, please access the site via the webpage rather than the app.)

Between May and September, open water swimming is arranged between members on the Facebook page. In 2022 we hope to offer open water coaching and club sessions at Lake 32 and/or Lake 86 at the Cotswold Water Park. We also use Stratford Park Lido to coach open water skills and get used to swimming in wetsuits before heading to the lakes.

Cycling

Club members meet for a social cycle ride on the first Sunday of each month. These are ‘no drop’ sessions, no one will be left behind. They include all abilities and a coffee and chat is included! Cycling sessions are also arranged via the Facebook page  with members contacting each other directly to arrange times dates and distances.

In the summer, there are also mid- week rides. These may include some coaching opportunity.

During the winter Spin Classes are organised at Stratford Park leisure centre.

Running

Running is well catered for within the running club and our members use the coaches in the main SADAC training system as there are groups set up for all abilities.

The Tri section meets up at ParkRun on the third Saturday of the month. We visit different venues and encourage everyone to stay for a chat and a coffee/tea etc. after the event.

Events

New for 2022: the introduction of team relay races; nominated club events where members can take part in both racing and meeting up socially; velodrome track session at Newport Velodrome; Q & A sessions with guest speakers and social events.
